Overview of Services
The WSU GeoAnalytical Lab is a well-known research facility that has been providing analyses of rocks and minerals to the geologic research community since 1978. Our extensive analytical capabilities include bulk rock and mineral elemental analyses for approximately 50 elements. We house a Thermo-ARL automated X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), an Agilent inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) with optional laser ablation (New Wave 213 nm) sampling, and a JEOL JXA-8500F field emission electron microprobe/scanning electron microscope (EPMA). Our facility includes a large prep lab equipped with grinding media, including an agate planetary ball mill and tungsten carbide and steel ring mills, as well as a large high temperature furnace and diamond polishing equipment. Acid digestions for ICP samples are performed in a perchloric rated hood.
For submitting samples for whole rock XRF/ICP-MS analyses, please go to the Request Services tab. Our current turnaround time is 12-14 weeks.

For submitting samples for solution ICP-MS analysis (not our whole rock REE method), please go to the Request Services tab.
For submitting samples for LA-ICP-MS analysis, please go to the Request Services tab.

For submitting samples for EPMA analysis please go to the Request Services tab.
